Border guards will continue to control travellers at the border crossings with Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Lithuania. According to the decision of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs taken on April 29, the restrictions have been extended to May 13.

Earlier this month the government decided to sustain the quarantine rules for those returning to Poland with some exceptions. It remains unknown when the international railway connections will operate again.

Residents of border towns demand the opening of the borders. Hundreds of people protested at border crossings, including in Gubin, Słubice, Frankfurt and Łęknica and Bad Muskau. For them, border closings due to the coronavirus epidemic means one thing: separation from family, loss of job and livelihood.

It is possible to cross the border in 42 places:

  • With Germany: Jędrzychowice, Olszyna, Świecko, Krajnik Dolny, Kołbaskowo, Świnoujście-Garz, Zgorzelec, Gubin, Słubice, Kostrzyn nad Odrą,
  • With Lithuania: Budzisko, Ogrodniki,
  • With Slovakia: Barwinek, Chyżne,
  • With the Czech Republic: Cieszyn-Chociebuż, Gorzyczki, Nowe Chałupki, Kudowa Słone, Trzebina, Jakuszyce, Gołkowice, Lubawka, and Głuchołazy.

"On the border with Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, border traffic has been significantly reduced. The Polish-Russian border can only be crossed in Bezledy and Grzechotki, the border with Belarus - in Kuźnica, Bobrowniki and Terespol, and with Ukraine - in Dorohusk and Korczowa" - border guards inform us.
