Education: global, local or globalocal?
Monday, May 4th 13.00-14.00
As part of the Education Week, on Monday, May 4th at 13.00, Boma Poland plans a session in English that will discuss whether education is going global or local, or rather, in both directions. To glean insights into this question, Ralph Talmont of Boma Poland will talk to two guests, who are at the leading edge of educational transformation, or rather at two different leading edges: Aape Pohjavirta, creator of the mobile learning system Funzi.fi, which is broadly adopted in East Africa and elsewhere, and Marcel Kampman, designer, strategic creative, and the instigator of The Dream School in Meppel, The Netherlands. The session starts at 13.00, and it will be live streamed by News From Poland.

If there is one lesson which we can universally take from this crisis, it is that we have entered a period of transformation more rapid, and more profound than we could have ever imagined.
Education as an ongoing process of constant learning is therefore going to be of paramount importance to our entire civilisation. The speed of delivery of such education is going to be far greater than before, but our educational institutions are ill-suited to this pace of change, our teaching staffs ill-equipped and the majority of students ill-prepared. The chasm between where we are and where we will need to find ourselves very quickly is wide.

In order to jump across it, will education become hyper-local and focused, mega-global and distributed or a dynamic mixture of these two? Are we going to create new education models for young and old alike? Will our regulators and legislators be able to work fast enough to accommodate this change, or are they going to become irrelevant?
