If you or a person close to you develops symptoms that cause your concern, you can contact your family doctor, the National Health Service hotline (800 190 590) or the poviat sanitary inspectorate.

You will find addresses and telephone numbers for local sanitary authorities here.

There are simple patterns for dealing with different situations that require consultation or medical care (be warned that some repeat themselves):

A guide on what to do when:

1. In the last 14 days you have been in a country where there is an SARS CoV-2 coronavirus epidemic, or you have had close contact with an infected person, but you have no disease symptoms and feel completely healthy?

Contact the National Health Fund (800 190 590), district sanitary inspectorate or your family doctor by phone.

Most likely, in accordance with the recommendations of the Chief Sanitary Inspector, you will be informed about the need to conduct self-quarantine for 14 days from the time of contact with a person who has been diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection, or from the time of return from abroad, including daily (in the morning and evening) temperature measurement.

You should wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds on a very frequent basis, especially before eating.

Use all other preventive measures recommended by the World Health Organization and GIS.

In case of deterioration of health - fever, coughing and / or shortness of breath - contact the NFZ helpline or sanitary inspectorate again. You will probably need to go to the nearest infectious diseases ward.

2. During the last 14 days you have stayed in a country where there is an SARS CoV-2 coronavirus epidemic or you have had close contact with an infected person and you have mild cold symptoms such as runny nose or feverishness.

Contact the National Health Fund (800 190 590), district sanitary inspectorate or your family doctor by phone.

You will most likely not be admitted to hospital, but you will be advised to be treated at home and to avoid contact with other people for 14 days after contact / return.

Your doctor will inform you about the necessity of frequent hand washing and hygiene of coughing (e.g. maintaining the right temperature and humidity in the room).

You can always call your doctor again and ask him for additional advice.

In the event of deterioration of health - fever, coughing and / or shortness of breath - contact the NFZ helpline or sanitary inspectorate again. You will probably need to go to the nearest infectious diseases ward. Make sure to avoid public transport and large gatherings of people.

In the event of an emergency health condition (e.g. shortness of breath), call 112 or 999.

3. In the last 14 days you have been in a country where there is an SARS CoV-2 coronavirus epidemic or you have had close contact with an infected person and you have symptoms of an acute respiratory infection such as a fever of more than 38 degrees C, coughing and / or shortness of breath.

Contact the poviat sanitary inspectorate or the NFZ helpline (800 190 590) by phone.

You will probably need to go to the nearest infectious diseases ward. Make sure to avoid public transport and large gatherings of people.
