Sikorski, Kwaśniewski and Russia

It ain't over until it's over, a popular American saying goes. So perhaps there is still a 1 percent change for a Pole to become the secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance. But I will be a disbeliever and will write a column even before the Nato summit about why a Pole will not become the alliance's head.

To make things clear, let me say that I think it would be great if the post ended up occupied by any of the Polish candidates. I consider Radek Sikorski to be the most talented Polish politician on the international scene today. Aleksander Kwaśniewski is a co-author of the Polish democracy's greatest successes: its accession to the Nato and the EU, its support for the orange revolution in Ukraine. But neither of them had a chance....
