Judge Khomchikov's logic is as iron as 'Iron' Felix Dzerzhinsky. And it is not marred by the fact that Katyn was a war crime, against humanity, and as such does not fall under the statute of limitations.

Vladimir Khomchikov, presiding judge of the Military Chamber of the Russian Federation's High Court, ruled yesterday that there was no legal justification for an inquiry into the Katyn massacre. The crime had fallen under the statute of limitations, because when the NKVD was executing the 22,000 Polish officers and officials in 1940, without either investigation ort trial, the Soviet Union's criminal law was a 1926 penal code - according to which crimes come under the statute of limitations after ten years....
