Let's Cultivate Normality in Our Relations with Germany

PM Tusk's opponents keep reproaching him that he has not brought about a breakthrough in Polish-German relations. True, there's been no breakthrough. Instead, there's normality between Berlin and Warsaw.

That was clear in Gdańsk yesterday. Donald Tusk and Angela Merkel reached a smooth agreement on German support for Warsaw's Eastern Partnership project, and agreed to fight together for the Lisbon Treaty. Mr Tusk also succeeded in convincing Ms Merkel that Poland needed special treatment on the distribution of carbon dioxide emission rights. A month earlier the German foreign minister tried to persuade the Russians in Moscow to reopen navigation for Polish vessels through the Strait of Baltiysk....
