Lisbon for April Fools' Day

A breakthrough in the row over the Lisbon treaty. The President and the Prime Minister have together appealed for a special parliament session to be convened. The Sejm may pass the ratification bill as early as Tuesday.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk said yesterday that only in the morning he had been discussing with President Lech Kaczyński the wording of the appeal to the Sejm speaker. On Saturday, he spoke to the President for five hours about the ratification during their face-to-face meeting at the President's residence in Jurata on the Baltic coast. He even fell foul with his own wife, preferring broth with noodles and meatballs with the President over dinner at home....
